Sony, Foxconn Make TVs in India
August 06, 2015

Sony has cooperated with Foxconn to produce Bravia TVs in India under an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) partnership with Foxconn's India subsidiary, Competition Team Technology (India), reported Nikkei on August 5. Sony previously made TVs by itself in the state of Haryana in India but closed the plant in 2004. Currently, Sony's Bravia TVs for India mainly come from Malaysia, Thailand, China, and Japan. As Bravia TVs are Sony's best-selling product in India, accounting for over 40% of overall sales, the company feels the need to make its offerings locally and commit to the Indian government's "Make in India" campaign. Details of the partnership, including accurate production capacity, are yet to be disclosed.
